    Blooms, Bugs, Beasts has been a popular annual exhibition at the Scarab Club for many years. The all-media, juried exhibition has a theme of flowers, insects, animals, landscapes, and seascapes and submissions were open to all artists.

    Juror: Susan Aaron-Taylor
    Brooklyn-born and Detroit-based, Aaron-Taylor studied art at Cranbrook Art Academy and Wayne State University. As an educator, was a Professor on the faculty of the College for Creative Studies in Detroit since 1973, serving as Chair of the Crafts Department from 1980 to 1990, Section Chair of Fibers from 1973 to 2013 and currently as Professor emerita. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries across the United States, and is included in numerous collections, including Cranbrook Art Museum, Kmart Corporation, and Westin Hotels.

  • Pretty Dirty

    Reception: Friday, April 22, 5-8 pm

    The Scarab Club will host an exhibition featuring the process of Wayne State University’s advanced graphic design students. Pretty Dirty offers a glimpse of Detroit from unique and artistic viewpoints. Works, in various mediums, visually depict our modern urban landscape. A set of books from a group that collaborated with students at Parsons School of Design represent a comparative view of streets in Detroit and New York. Show runs from April 15th until May 14th.
